Mauritius is sparing no efforts to become a leading international arbitration centre. In July 2011, the Government of Mauritius signed a joint venture agreement for the creation of an international arbitration centre with the London Court of International Arbitration. The Mauritius International Arbitration Centre (LCIA-MIAC) is now fully operational. Mauritius has also signed a Host Country Agreement with the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) which has appointed a permanent representative in the country.
