Burty Francois holds an LLB from the University of Mauritius and was called to the Mauritian Bar in 2004. He has joined us as Barrister after holding the post of Legal Adviser of the Truth & Justice Commission of Mauritius.
He has conducted much litigation in the fields of administrative, company, commercial, criminal and civil law before the various courts of Mauritius. Burty’s experience in litigation has also been accentuated by his various positions in high-calibre Mauritian Chambers.
Burty has advised several domestic and foreign companies operating in Mauritius on financial regulations and company law compliance matters and has acquired expertise in the drafting and vetting of legal documents. Burty has also been part of the prosecution and the chairing of disciplinary committees in relation to industrial law.
Burty has also been involved in a number of cases of ship arrests and has provided legal opinions in relation to aircraft leasing.
